BLACK WHITE & ONE COLOR PHOTOGRAPHY | Exhibition 2020

ENTRY DEADLINE!

- A black-and-white image deconstructs a scene and reduces it to its forms and tones. Distracting colors are recast as subtle shades of gray that add to a composition..

- With such a "restricted" palette—it's easier than ever before, and it allows us to look at our subjects more deeply, expanding the possibilities of our photography..

- Black-and-white can reveal different things to a photographer and viewer. As photographers, we can develop and use our ability to see in black-and-white to our advantage, expanding our aptitude for seeing the potential of what's in front of the lens. Color is the most obvious element of composition, but shape, line and texture can separate a nice picture from something that's truly special. Thinking in black-and-white will train your eye to spot the full potential of a photograph.

As we re-introduce one color to a specific selection or in an intentional pattern to an image we're selectively developing and layering further meaning and focus into that image...

TO ENTER THE SHOW: 

Read and complete the entry form, and provide at least 1 photo samples of each art/work being submitted, with submission fee. 

Entry Procedure:

Entry forms with samples/copies of work are preferred to be submitted in digital format to Gallery@theART247.com, however hard copy 4x6 photographs of the entries are also acceptable. You may submit up to four entries. Entries should include photography done in black and white with gray scales. (No Sepias or Cyan Toning,) with 1 additional color. All entries must be original to the submitting artist. Work must be professionally mounted and framed. (For Non-Photography submissions - Please refer to, and use our other Black White & One Color Entry Form.) Fees: The non-refundable fee for entry is $30.00 to be submitted with your entry form via Check, Cash, or Money Order. Checks should be made out to ART247, LLC. Mail or drop off entry forms to ART247, 247 Market Street, Lockport, New York 14094. Please note: Entry forms received before or after the deadline window, or incomplete entry forms - for example a missing artist bio - may disqualify entries into the jury round and/or exhibition.

Judging and Awards:

The entries will be juried by ART247 & Guest Jurors for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place. Viewers Choice Award will be chosen at the opening reception by reception participants.      

Presentation:

Photographs must be matted and framed. Mats/frames must be black, white or gray tone. Plexiglass is required for artwork 18” x 24” or larger. Frame color is restricted to black, white, gray or silver. No uniframes that leave the edges of the glass exposed will be accepted. All work must have screw eyes and wire in place ready for hanging. No saw tooth or plastic clips will be accepted.
